Accounting & Serials
The Accounting & Serials Unit strives to meet the information needs of the University of Florida community, supporting the goals and objectives of the Acquisitions & Collections Services Department of the George A. Smathers Libraries.
Our main responsibilities include acquisitions accounting financial activities related to the libraries’ materials budget in excess of $13 million, along with the management of acquisition functions for print subscriptions and standing orders, as well as the management of the Gifts & Exchange programs.

Collections Support
The Collections Support Unit coordinates record loading and metadata management, ordering and processing tangible library material, streaming video, and electronic book purchases (among others) as well as posting and contributing to the processing of invoices.
E-Journals, E-Books, AND Databases
Electronic Resources
The Electronic Resources Unit manages the full life-cycle of e-resources licensed for use by UF students, faculty, and staff. The unit manages the acquisition, access, maintenance, and assessment of thousands of e-journals, e-books, and databases. The Unit also manages OneSearch–our discovery system–and the A-Z database list.
Exchange Program & Gifts
Exchange Program and Gifts
The Exchange Program barters materials with other libraries, museums, and research centers around the world.
The George A. Smathers Libraries welcome the opportunity to accept gift donations of books and other materials that are academic in nature, enhance existing collections, are in good physical condition, and can be added to the Libraries’ collection. Gifts and donations are arranged directly with Library Branches.

Print and Print + Online Serials and Standing Orders
Print Serials
Serial responsibilities include the acquisition, management, reporting, and documentation of print and print +online serial subscriptions (periodicals and annuals) and standing orders and series (cataloged separately and analytics).
