Fall 2022
We have completed our first fiscal year using our new Integrated Library System, Alma!  This has required many hours of training, cross-unit meetings, discussion, communication, troubleshooting, and patience from all three units in Acquisitions - Accounting & Serials, Collections Support, and Electronic Resources and is a huge accomplishment we are proud of.

Some Alma-versary highlights:
Acquisitions Accounting prepared the materials budget for Fiscal Year 2021-2022 and coordinated invoice processing in the new ILS, Alma, and PeopleSoft. Utilizing new workflows, specifically designed for processing of financial data in Alma, the Accounting staff processed 3,364 invoices and Pcard transactions to manage renewals and purchases for the Smathers Libraries FY 2022 materials budget expenditure of $14,543,711, of which $13,322,050 was processed on State funds, Provost Support, and DSP, and $1,221,661 was processed with other sources of funds, including endowments, grants, and support from UF Departments and Colleges (Warrington College of Business, College of Medicine, College of Pharmacy, Journalism Department, Law Library, and more). During the year, 39 vendor records (27 domestic and 12 international) were created/updated in coordination with library specialists, vendors, and UF offices.

- Sheri Edwards will be interim Chair and then Co-Chair of Affordable UF!
- Laura Feder joins the Employee Recognition Committee!   
- Pauline Bickford Cline, Doug Kiker, and Christy Shorey's Ask-A-Librarian Subcommittee presentation at the Charleston Conference!
- Sheri Edwards, Jason Heckathorn, and Megan Daly's presentation, E-book Usage in Classics, Philosophy, and Religion in Pre-pandemic vs. Pandemic times at the Charleston Conference!
- The Libraries will fund Reveal Digital's Behind the Scenes of the Civil Rights Movements initiative!
-  ERMS/TSSC Joint Task Force has continued to work on a spreadsheet indicating quality of e-resource records available from Alma CZ and available from vendors (yes, we definitely get excited about spreadsheets!)
- The Accounting & Serials Unit, the Website Working Group, and Pauline Bickford Cline were all nominated for Library Employee Excellence Awards!  
- Welcome to our new Collections Support Liaison, John Jack!
- This Banned Books LibGuide that Erin Gallagher, Colleen Seale, Ginessa Mahar, Neil Weijer, Megan Daly, and Ramona Caponegro created!  
- Sara Peden is joining the Wellness Committee!

  • WrapPRO (trial)Provides unlimited access to exclusive entertainment, technology, and media coverage, insights, data + analysis (delivered directly from Parrot Analytics), as well as VIP access to virtual events and screenings (with director & talent Q&A) during the trial period.  Current membership consists of the key decision makers, executives, producers / directors, and talent from companies such as Disney, Netflix, ABC, Hulu, Spotify, Viacom, MGM, ByteDance, Google, Twitter, WarnerMedia, CBS, ESPN, WME, CAA, A+E, and many more.

Get to know our Collections Support Student Assistant, Finley Simons!
What is your favorite aspect of working in Acquisitions and Collections Services?
I am constantly grateful for how kind and supportive everyone in the department is and I am glad that I am getting unique experience for working in a library, compared to working directly in the stacks or with patrons at a desk. I feel like I am constantly learning something new and adding to skillsets for my future.

What is one message you would give to your younger self?
You don't have to be anything other than exactly who you are and who you want to be. What anyone else thinks about you is irrelevant.

What would you like remembered about you?
On a personal level, I would like to be remembered as thoughtful and kind. On a professional level, I hope I will be remembered as someone who gets their job done and does it well.

What do you like doing in your spare time?
I like playing video games, reading books, playing with my cats, writing and creating elaborate worlds for fantasy stories, and playing tabletop roleplaying games with my friends.
